Another busy week concluded in Melbourne with Parliament and meetings which included:

  • catching up with ACSO chief on progress for proposed ACSO/Odyssey House drug rehabilitation centre in our area
  • called on the Minister for Health to visit the Emergency Department of Goulburn Valley Health with me to view the chronic lack of treatment spaces
  • meeting with Lisa McKenzie from the Lighthouse Project to hear about the results of the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project-1000 Conversations Youth Sector Mapping and Volunteer Program Review and future plans

  • attended Committee for Melbourne Annual Parliamentary event-networking for connections for Shepparton electorate
  • called on the Minister for Public Transport to review regional train timetables, in particular Shepparton, for public holidays with a view to maintaining them on a normal weekday timetable
  • attended the 2015 95 3SR FM Business Awards Annual Gala Presentation Dinner at East bank on Friday night. Great to see businesses old and new being honoured for their efforts and Sam and Josie Renato’s Florist being inducted into the Shepparton Chamber Of Commerce Hall of Fame
  • the Shepparton News Pink Ribbon Brunch today was a fabulous event with 732 tickets sold in the first 30 minutes of going on sale. It was an honour to hear guest speaker Liz Ainsworth talk about her experiences, her family and getting on with living. Congratulations to the Shepparton News for this highly successful fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation

It will be good to be back in the electorate for the next two weeks and there is a lot to do. I have invited the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water to attend a Water Summit in Tatura on Wednesday, 28 October 2015. The purpose of the summit is to give the Minister the opportunity to hear from our local community about

  • how the Basin plan is reducing water availability in our region
  • what impact this is having on our regional community, economy and jobs
  • to provide a regional leadership forum to consider how the regions community, economy and jobs can be protected
  • discuss how the region can work with the government to protect the regions and Victoria’s interests

I hope you all have a good week.
