Busy Start to New Year

January 27, 2017

It was a joy to be a part of Shepparton and Mooroopna Australia Day events yesterday.

I also attended the Moira Shire awards ceremony, held in Nathalia earlier this month.

Congratulations to all the award recipients, particularly those who received Order of Australia honours.

While we must celebrate the work of our volunteers all year round, it’s days like these which truly highlight the great work they do.

I hope you will join me in celebrating the arrival of a fourth train service to Shepparton on Monday.

This is an extension of a Seymour service, which departs Southern Cross Station at 4.31pm, and is due to arrive in Shepparton at 7.21pm.

We will herald in the arrival of the new service at the Shepparton station, with some festivities on the Shepparton platform on Monday evening.  Residents are invited to join me, and the All Aboard committee as we mark this occasion.

I hope this new schedule will be well received, as we continue to campaign for more, faster and better train services for Shepparton.

2016 was a tumultuous year for our dairy farmers, however International Dairy Week highlights what a tremendous industry we have.

I commend the committee for yet again, attracting such a high calibre of talent and judges to the Tatura region for another outstanding event.

Parliament resumes next week and it will be another busy year.

The Bourke Street tragedy will lead to changes to our existing bail laws and prompt much debate about how we deal with the law and order crisis in the State.
