Constituency question - Seymour platform access

September 15, 2016

Constituency question

My constituency question is for the Minister for Public Transport, and the question I ask is whether it would be possible to reinstate the walkway at station level between the car park and the bus depot and the platforms at Seymour station?

The access to platforms at Seymour station poses considerable difficulties for most people, but especially for those who are older or who have a disability. Leaving the platform area requires you to leave the platform and walk down a long ramp to a tunnel. You must then walk up another set of steps or another very long ramp to the car park or waiting buses. The distance is considerable and very onerous. I have seen many people struggle to make the transfer. It would be of great benefit to so many of my constituents who travel to Seymour to access regular train services — as there are very few from Shepparton — to have such ease of access to the platform.
