Continued push for funding, following Victorian Budget

June 08, 2016

Independent Member for Shepparton District Suzanna Sheed has thanked the Andrews Labor Government for its investment in Goulburn Valley Health, during her response to the 2016/17 Victorian Budget in Parliament this week.

“I’m delighted with the announcement of $169million for the much needed Goulburn Valley Health redevelopment.

“It’s a project the community has long been advocating for, and it’s been made clear to various ministers, over a number of visits, that this was our number one priority,” Ms Sheed said.

However, Ms Sheed has also used the budget response, to advocate for future funding in the Shepparton District electorate.

Ms Sheed says, there’s a significant need to invest in the electorate’s education programs, including the Neighbourhood Schools Project, and the Better Together Alliance.

“It is essential children in our community are given the best chance in life to get ahead. It is well-known the earlier the intervention occurs in children’s lives, the better their outcomes are likely to be.

These are projects deserving of ongoing financial support, to ensure the obvious disparities between educational outcomes in regional and metropolitan areas are addressed,” she said.

Ms Sheed has also raised concerns regarding the Shepparton bypass, and the creation of a mother-baby unit.

“I will continue to work hard for my electorate to ensure its needs are highlighted and brought to the attention of government,” Ms Sheed said.
