Education is the key to opportunity for our young people, but for too long the education system has been failing the students of Shepparton District.
During the past four years, we have taken important steps to reverse the trend of falling enrolments at our secondary schools and consistently below average NAPLAN and VCE results compared to the rest of Victoria.
We have secured $21.5 million to begin a transformation of how schooling is delivered in Shepparton District and improve access to jobs and further study for our young people, but there's more we can achieve.
My education vision for a proudly independent Shepparton District includes:
- A state-of-the-art education precinct partnering with La Trobe University, GOTAFE and industry to connect students to jobs and further study;
- Full funding for the Neighbourhood Schools Program to support vulnerable children and their families; and
- A completed Shepparton Education Plan to deliver the best educational opportunities to students of all abilities, wherever they live.
